FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about merchant cash advances, eligibility, and how Workable Funding works.

What is an ISO in merchant cash advance?

+

An ISO — independent sales organization — is the broker between a small business that needs working capital and the company that funds it. The ISO gathers the application and bank statements, packages the file, submits it to a funding source, presents the offer, and is paid points on the funded amount.

How do I become an MCA broker or ISO with Workable Funding?

+

Register at workablefunding.com/iso-partners/register with your company details. The ISO desk verifies you within one business day, sends the partner agreement, W-9 and onboarding pack, and you can submit your first file the same week. There is no signup fee, platform fee or monthly cost.

How does ISO commission work on a merchant cash advance?

+

Workable Funding approves each file at a buy rate, and selling above that buy rate earns you commission, set per file. Example: a file bought at 1.38 and sold to the merchant at 1.50 is a 12-point spread — $12,000 on a $100,000 advance. Every approval includes a commission grid showing what you are paid at each sell rate on that file.

What is a buy rate, and what is Workable Funding's buy rate?

+

The buy rate is the factor rate at which the funding source buys the deal, before the broker's points are added. The buy rate is set file by file from the merchant's bank statements: 1.38 is a common middle, strong A-paper is bought below it, and tougher paper prices above it. The buy rate and your maximum points are stated in writing on every approval.

When does Workable Funding pay broker commission?

+

Commission is paid by ACH 15 business days after the merchant is funded, released on twice-monthly Thursday payout runs, with a deal-by-deal statement. There are no hidden deductions and renewal commission stays with the submitting partner.

What do I have to send with a deal submission?

+

A signed one-page application and the three most recent months of complete business bank statements — that is the entire first submission. Extra statements, a P&L or a zero-balance letter are requested only when underwriting needs them, and the owner's photo ID and a voided check are collected after the merchant accepts an offer, never up front.

How fast do brokers get a decision and how fast does a deal fund?

+

A complete file submitted during business hours is read the same day, with a formal offer within about 90 minutes of the file being complete. Same-day approvals are common, merchants usually sign the next day, and funds typically land within 48 to 72 hours.

What are the minimum criteria for a merchant?

+

Six or more months in business, $15,000 or more in average monthly revenue, a 500+ personal FICO score, a registered business, and an active business checking account with at least three months of activity. Funding runs from $10,000 to $2,000,000 over 3 to 12 month terms, and larger deals up to $5,000,000 are considered for qualifying files.

Do you fund second, third and fourth position deals?

+

Yes. First and second position is the core, and third and fourth position files are reviewed on the strength of the cash flow rather than the position count. Disclose existing positions up front — undisclosed positions found at contract stage kill the deal.

What happens if the merchant asks for more than the file supports?

+

The file is not declined for asking too high. Underwriting states the amount the statements actually carry, with the reasoning — true revenue, average daily balance, negative days and existing debits — so the broker can reposition the deal instead of losing it.

What paper grades and industries do you accept?

+

A through high-risk paper, all 50 states, and more than 60 industries including restaurants, retail, trucking, medical practices, construction and e-commerce. Every grade is underwritten on the same desk and every offer comes from Workable Funding.

How does Workable Funding manage an ISO submission?

+

Workable Funding is an MCA funding platform and dedicated ISO funding desk. Every file is submitted directly to Workable and managed through our desk from underwriting through offers, funding coordination, and commission payment. Transactions may be funded directly or through Workable's own capital relationships under our contract, depending on the applicable program.

Do you protect the broker's merchant relationship?

+

Yes. Broker and ISO identities are treated as confidential within the Workable funding process. Merchant communication on broker-submitted files runs through the submitting partner, and renewal commission is paid to that partner.

Can I white-label the funding relationship?

+

White-label documentation is available to established partners with consistent volume. Ask the ISO desk once you are onboarded.

What do you pay for referring another broker?

+

$500 when a broker you refer gets their first file funded, and another $500 if they fund three files within 90 days. There is no cap and it does not touch your own points. Details are at workablefunding.com/refer-a-broker.

How do brokers get paid if they do not want to sign an ISO agreement?

+

Referral partners send the business with no signed ISO agreement and earn $500 when their first file funds, plus $500 more if they fund three files within 90 days. Contracted ISO partners run their own sales process and earn a per-file commission on the same deal.

How do I submit a deal to Workable Funding?

+

Approved partners submit through the broker submission form at workablefunding.com/iso-partners/submit-deal, or email the application and statements to the ISO desk at hello@workablefunding.com. Each file gets a reference number and a status page you can follow.

What makes a submission get declined for reasons a broker can avoid?

+

Incomplete statement sets, missing pages, statements that are not the most recent three months, undisclosed positions, and screenshots instead of full PDF statements. Complete PDF files are read first and priced best.
